History Guam CEDDERS serves as a training and technical assistance provider in the Pacific Basin region. From its inception in 1993, Guam CEDDERS has evolved into a dynamic organization that aims to build bridges with partners for creating stronger linkages, programs, services, and supports to positively impact the quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Guam CEDDERS facilitates projects that provide training, technical assistance, service, research, and information sharing, with a special emphasis on building community capacity and systems. Photo: Father holding son smiling at camera Center Page CORE FUNCTIONS • Interdisciplinary Pre-Service Preparation; Continuing Education; Community Services: Training Guam CEDDERS provides a variety of training and technical assistance opportunities that promote the increase of meaningful community involvement of individuals with disabilities and their families. Local and regional activities under these areas focus on improving education, early intervention, transition, and assistive technology supports and services for individuals with disabilities across the lifespan. Photo: Mother and son on wheelchair smiling at camera Inside Right page • Community Services: Technical Assistance, Model Services, Demonstration Services Under this CORE function, Guam CEDDERS facilitates the Guam System for Assistive Technology (GSAT) Demonstration & Resource Center. This Center provides community members with information to assist them to learn and make informed decisions in selecting the best Assistive Technology to meet their needs. Another project under this area includes the Guam Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Project. • Research/Evaluation; Information Dissemination Research and evaluation services and development of resources and products are geared to disseminate key information and raise public awareness on a range of topics related to disabilities.
