On May 12, Elaine Eclavea, Guam CEDDERS Consultant (left), facilitated the first Evaluation Work Group meeting under the Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Project. The purpose of the workgroup is to gather input for the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention – Information System (EHDI-IS) Evaluation Plan from its stakeholders. During the meeting, an overview of the system was provided and agreements were established regarding evaluation activities, events, and timelines. Donna McNear, Vision Instruction (VI) Consultant, provided technical assistance to the Palau Department of Education on May 1-2 and to the Guam DOE on May 4-10. Donna met with Darlene Taimanglo, Guam Teacher of Visionally Impaired to discuss teaching strategies on May 10.Donna met with Madilde Gresham, a parent of a child with a VI on May 10.
(L-R): Terrie Fejarang met with Genessa Que, Shriners Hospitals for Children Physician Liaison Assistant on May 8. Ms. Que provided an update on Shriners programs and services available to children from Guam who have orthopedic conditions that require specialized care.
Guam CEDDERS participated in the UOG Social Work Department’s Practicum Fair held on Friday, May 5. The purpose of the Fair was to allow the 30 Social Work students, who will be seniors next year, an opportunity to learn more about the range of community services providing social services supports and programs, for possible practicum placement for Academic Year 2017-18. The Akudi Loan Program assists persons with disabilities and their families, in purchasing assistive technology devices and services.
