Project Kariñu Stakeholder Summit

On September 30, the Department of Public Health and Social Services, Project Kariñu, and the University of Guam CEDDERS held a Stakeholdder Summit at the Westin Resort Guam to celebrate Project Kariñu’s success over the last 7 years. During the summit, participants reviewed and validated evaluation findings, and discussed the next steps as federal funding for Project Kariñu came to an end on September 30.

Procreate and Guam EHDI Promote the Importance of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention

Procreate, a specialty shop that caters to parents of newborns, recently developed a partnership with the Guam EHDI Project to promote the importance of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention to their loyal customers. Customers will be provided with Guam EHDI brochures which emphasize the importance of early hearing screening and intervention services. On August 26th Dr. Renee Koffend, Aud., CCC-A, Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (GEHDI) Audiology consultant, conducted hearing screening on infants using an AABR device (top), and an OAE device (bottom), during the Outpatient Hearing Clinic held at Guam EHDI, House 21, Dean’s Circle, UOG.

Ms. McNear is currently on-island conducting an on-site technical assistance visit on August 20 - September 2.
