On June 3, 2018, Shawni Acfalle, Guam System for Assistive Technology (GSAT) Center Assistant, shares information on the UbiDuo, an assistive technology device that provides a solution for face-to-face communication for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, to visitor Kyle Mandapat during the University of Guam Triton Expo at the Agana Shopping Center. Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Facilitate a Workgroup Evaluation Meeting

On March 29, 2018, Guam EHDI QI/Evaluation Coordinator/Evaluation and Performance Monitor/Surveillance Supervisor, Joseph Mendiola, facilitated a Workgroup Evaluation Meeting at the Pacific Star Hotel with Guam Childlink-EHDI stakeholders and data system users. Mr. Mendiola gave an overview on the progress Guam EHDI has made over the past year. Stakeholders were also asked to provide input to improve the quality of the data collected and ways to improve the EHDI services on all levels of the hearing continuum. Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Participates in the 2018 Interactive Parent Conference: Power of Play

Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (Guam EHDI) staff participated at The Power of Play, a community outreach event for parents and children birth to eight years, held at various locations around the island. Guam EHDI Staff provided information to a diverse group of parents to increase awareness of the importance of hearing screening and how hearing impacts language development in young children.

On March 20, 2018, Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention​ (Guam EHDI) Project Fitme​ received ​the​ 2018 Website of the ​Y​ear ​A​ward at the Annual ​National ​EHDI Meeting ​held in Denver, ​Colorado​.​ ​ Karl White​, Ph.D., ​Director of the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM), commented on ​the improvements and accessibility of the site. The website was designed and constructed by Sherry Guerrero, former Disability Media Specialist, with content written and organized by the Guam EHDI Team.​​ Accepting the award on behalf of Guam EHDI were (Front Row, L-R): JJ Mendiola and Marie Wusstig. Project Fitme Parent Support Group Coordinator Meets with GEIS

On March 9, 2018, Susan Dugan, (R), the newly designated Project Fitme Deaf/Hard of Hearing Project Coordinator under Guam Positive Parents Together, Inc., a non profit organization, met with Marie Wusstig,(L), Guam EHDI Project Coordinator, and Pat Mantanona (C), Guam Early Intervention System Program Coordinator. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the re-establishment of a D/HH Parent Support Group.

Parents of Deaf/Hard of Hearing Children Attend Support Group Orientation Meeting

The first meeting of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Parent Support Group was held on March 14. The purpose of the group is to establish a parent to parent support system to help parents of newly identified infants and toddlers learn about options and navigating systems and The meeting was facilitated through a partnership with Guam Positive Parents Together (GPPT), headed by Ann Marie Cruz, President, and the Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (Guam EHDI) Project Fitme, administered by Guam CEDDERS. Parent support efforts are facilitated by Susan Dugan, BSW, Project Coordinator.
