Langston University RERC Meets with UOG Administration by Guam CEDDERS CEDDERS CORE Community Services: Technical Assistance On February 28, 2019, representatives from the Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (LU-RRTC) met with University of Guam (UOG) officials to discuss opportunities for the territory to conduct research in the field of disability and rehabilitation. CEDDERS Associate Director Connects with Autism TA Provider at the National Autism Conference by Guam CEDDERS Community Services: Technical Assistance Developmental Disabilities Early Childhood June De Leon, (right), Guam CEDDERS Associate Director, conferred with Donna Miller (left), during the 22th National Autism Conference held in State College, Pennsylvania on August 6-9. Ms. Miller, a technical assistance provider focusing on autism spectrum disorders for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, conducted a presentation titled, “Home-Based Coaching with Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder” during the Conference.

Victoria “Marivic” Guiao, RN, OB Ward supervisor to review results and recommendations of the Hearing Screening Compliance Survey. Supervisors provided additional input for the training objectives for the upcoming “Hearing Screening Protocol and Equipment Training”, scheduled for July 16 – 17, 2018, which will be facilitated by, Renee L.G. Koffend, AuD, CCC-A, Guam EHDI Audiologist Consultant.

Guam Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Facilitated a Learning Community Meeting by Guam CEDDERS Community Services: Technical Assistance Guam Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Marie Wusstig and Terrie Fejarang, Guam EHDI staff members, facilitated the second Learning Community Meeting held on June 1. Learning Community participants included three parents and a sibling, a pediatrician, an audiologist, nursing supervisors from Guam Memorial Hospital Authority and Guam Regional Medical City, and representatives from Sagua Mañagu Birthing Center, Guam Early Intervention System and Guam EHDI. A lively interactive discussion took place focusing on the promotion of a Shared Plan of Care (SPoC).
Guam Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Facilitated Evaluation Work Group Meeting by Guam CEDDERS Community Services: Technical Assistance Guam Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Guam Early Intervention System Joseph Mendiola, Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Interoperability Manager, facilitated the Evaluation Work Group meeting with EHDI ChildLink users on June 1. Participants of the Work Group included three parents, an audiologist, and representatives from the three civilian birthing sites, Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, Sagua Mañagu Birthing Center, and Guam Regional Medical City, as well as from Guam Early Intervention System and Guam EHDI staff.
Project Bisita I Familia Parent Café by Guam CEDDERS Community Services: Technical Assistance Project Bisita I Familia Jenika Ballesta, CEDDERS Research Associate (front right), and Vera Blaz, CEDDERS Training Associate (middle row), co-facilitated the Project Bisita I Familia Parent Cafe on May 18, 2018 at the Pacific Start Hotel. The theme for the cafe was “Taking Care of Yourself.” Thirteen parents participated in the event.
Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Facilitate a Workgroup Evaluation Meeting by Guam CEDDERS Community Services: Technical Assistance Guam Early Hearing Detection & Intervention On March 29, 2018, Guam EHDI QI/Evaluation Coordinator/Evaluation and Performance Monitor/Surveillance Supervisor, Joseph Mendiola, facilitated a Workgroup Evaluation Meeting at the Pacific Star Hotel with Guam Childlink-EHDI stakeholders and data system users. Mr. Mendiola gave an overview on the progress Guam EHDI has made over the past year. Stakeholders were also asked to provide input to improve the quality of the data collected and ways to improve the EHDI services on all levels of the hearing continuum.
