Guam CEDDERS Facilitates Training on Guam ChildLink-EHDI for Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) by Guam CEDDERS Community Services: Training Guam Early Hearing Detection & Intervention On October 3, Joseph Mendiola (right), Guam EHDI Interoperability Data Manager, conducted training on Guam ChildLink – EHDI with Sheryll Lewis (left), RN, the designated Hearing Screening Coordinator of the Guam Regional Medical City Mother & Baby Unit. Guam ChildLink, the online data base system facilitated by the Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (Guam EHDI), administered by Guam CEDDERS, is part of the system used to ensure that all babies born on Guam undergo hearing screening before leaving the facility of their birth and receive follow up services if needed.

Annual EHDI Conference by Guam CEDDERS Uncategorized Terrie Fejarang, Guam CEDDERS Associate Director (right), met with Connie Stevens from the Wisconsin Sound Beginnings Program, during the Annual EHDI Conference held in San Diego, California on March 14-15 to discuss the possibility of her program using some video clips from the Guam EHDI website.Representing the Guam EHDI Team during the recent Annual Conference were (L-R): JJ Mendiola, EHDI Data Coordinator; Dr. Heidi San Nicolas, Guam CEDDERS Director and EHDI Project Principal Investigator; Maravic Guiao, RN, Nurse Supervisor, Obstetrics, Guam Memorial Hospital; Terrie Fejarang, Guam EHDI Project Coordinator; and Robert Leon Guerrero, M.D., Guam EHDI Pediatric Champion.Representatives from the Pacific Rim Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Projects met before the Annual EHDI Conference to provide updates and share information. Islands represented included American Samoa, Saipan, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Palau, Majuro, Oahu, and Guam. Also attending the Pacific Rim Meeting were representatives from the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Guam EHDI Advisory Committee Meeting by Guam CEDDERS Uncategorized The Guam Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Project Advisory Committee held its quarterly meeting on December 14, 2015. Topics covered included updates from birth sites and Guam Early Intervention System (GEIS) on the status of new born hearing screenings and intervention services for newborns that require hearing services. Committee Members also provided feedback and input about the various Guam EHDI activities and goals to ensure that all babies receive a hearing screening before discharge, diagnostic audiological evaluation before 3 months of age, and early intervention services by 6 months of age.
